Our August 4th meeting will be a Potluck event. Members are asked to bring a potluck main dish, side, or dessert.
Larry Nakata will be giving a presentation on The U.S. Half Dollar
The Raffle Coin will be a 1878-S U.S. Morgan Dollar, consensus graded by the Board as MS63

Our Annual Summer picnic was a big success! We had 37 donation items/lots from Bud, Greg Allen, John, Dennis, Loren, Carl, Jim, Bill, and Debbie, netting $843 which goes to the club!
We had a great turn out, and the weather was beautiful!
Thank you to all the members that helped coordinate, set up, clean up, cook, donate auction items, and participate in the auction!

Board meeting called to order at 6:30 PM by Secretary Larry Nakata. Club President Allen Nichols and Club Vice President Stewart Smith were not able to attend.
Meeting held at Sushi Yako Japanese Restaurant located near the University Center.
First Order of Business: The Board of the Anchorage Coin Club wants to give their condolences to Anchorage Coin Club member Bill Fivaz and his wife (Marilyn) upon the death of their son. Our prayers are with you.
Saturday, July 25th Anchorage Coin Club Picnic/ Membership meeting. Details were discussed to make sure everything is in readiness for the event:
Keys to the Pavilion Gate will be picked up by John Larson.
Larry Nakata and Dan Barnhart will shop and pick up the items needed for the event on Friday, July 24th (hotdogs, hamburgers, buns, chips, soda pop, forks, spoons, knives, etc.)
Larry Nakata will arrange for volunteers show up around 11 am to help setup. Some of the Board members will also show up to help out.
Coins/Numismatic items for the auction in the hands of Dan Barnhart. He will make sure the items are bridged to Club President Allen Nichols. Among the auction items are Anchorage Coin Club 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, and 25th Two Coin Anniversary Sets (Silver/Bronze) provided by the club.
Carl has volunteered to be the auctioneer for the Summer Picnic Donation Auction.
Main thing is to get everything ready with the hamburgers/hotdogs ready to go by 12 noon when club members show up.
Club's last newsletter should have all information to club members regarding details for the Summer Picnic.
Summer Raffle coin- 1915-P $2 & 1/2 U.S. Indian Gold Coin graded PCGS AU-58. Winning ticket to be drawn at the Summer Picnic Event. Final tickets to be sold at that time.

New Business: Only one item. Details for August 4th (Tuesday) Membership Meeting:
Refreshments: Members asked to bring potluck items for the August membership meeting.
August Presentation will be by Larry Nakata on the U.S Half Dollar.
August Raffle Coin will be an 1878-S U.S. Morgan Dollar that was consensus graded by the Board as Uncirculated MS-63.
Next Anchorage Coin Club newsletter should go out shortly after the Summer Picnic Event on July 25th.

Highlights from our Annual Summer Picnic:
Folks started setting up at around 10:45 am and the picnic started at noon and ended at 2:30. Bud Billon and Dan Barnhart manned the grill, cooking up hamburgers, hotdogs, and Larry's famous marinated teriyaki beef.

The raffle took place at 12:45. Congratulations to Andrew Beveridge as he was the winner of the 1915 P $2 1/2 Gold Coin!
Andrew is very happy! Andrew has the yellow shirt.
Stewart Smith won the 1876 half dollar, Gene Pool won the 88 Canada Proofs, and David Wilson won the 1988 Canada proof set.
Following the raffle was the donation auction. Members donated 37 lots and $843 was realized from the auction, all of which goes to the club!
