Alaska Coin Exchange Presents
Certified Copper Coinage
for your consideration:
| 1855 Half Cent NGC Proof-64 Brown | |
| Description: A fine example of a Proof half cent! A tiny original mintage of 40 pieces, which you could easily hold in one hand. The coin itself is a fairly even brown color, though under a light source it will show off some very pretty greens and pinks. Adding to the appeal of this coin is a relatively low business strike mintage of 56,500 pieces, although a fair number of Uncirculated specimens survived. There is a wide gap in quality between the business strikes of the year and the Proofs. Business strikes from 1855 almost universally show weakness around the periphery, in the form of weak and mushy denticles and poor detailing within the stars. On the other hand, the Proofs of 1855 show sharp detailing throughout. Only one die was used to make the Proof half cents this year so there are no varieties. | |

| 1794 Large Cent PCI F-15 Porous | |
| Description: Head of 1794. Actually appears to be VF or better in terms of wear, with even the highest hair curls showing detail. However, it is porous, as noted on the slab. Luckily, it appears that nobody has ever tried to clean this cent with the hopes of improving it, so the color is a very even, original brown. The scan did not come out so great, but it gives some idea of the condition of this old cent. | |

| 1794 Large Cent SEGS EF-40 Mild Corrosion | |
| Description: The slab notes that this coin has "mild brown corrosion". What this translates to is that the coin has an attractive even brown color with a little bit of roughness in the field. Pleasing eye appeal. The slab also notes that this is the Sheldon-63 variety (also known as Breen-37). What all that means is that this is the popular 'Fallen 4' variety, which is very obvious without any magnification. The 179 of the date slopes up to the right, while the 4 is much lower and a bit crooked. The word liberty is far to the right with the letter L further from the cap than on any other variety. William Noyes lists the condition census as EF-45 and up, while Breen lists coins from EF-40 and up. Head of 1794. | |

| 1821 Large Cent PCI EF-40 Porous | |
| Description: The PCI holder describes this coin as corroded but it is not. It suffers from a case of light, even porosity. The color is excellent, even chocolate brown, more even in appearance than it looks in the image provided. The 1821 is the key date for this era with a mintage of only 389,000 pieces at a time when mintages were averaging 1 to 3 million. Very decent eye appeal. | |

| 1876 Indian Head Cent PCI Proof-66 Brown | |
| Description: A cent from our centennial year. The obverse is an olive green-gold color. The reverse is a golden brown with a hint of pink and purple. The reverse is a more even brown color than it appears in the scan. The surfaces are amazingly flawless, indicating that this cent has been in the hands of dedicated collectors right from the start. The only imperfections are two tiny flyspecks near the N in united on the obverse. No nicks or tic marks anywhere. A better date Indian in any grade. | |

| 1886 Indian Head Cent Type 2 PCGS MS-64 Red Brown | |
| Description: Much more red than brown. Good luster too. The type 2 variety comprises about 25% of the mintage of 1886 Indian head cents, while the type 1's comprise the other 75%. Many collectors incorrectly think that the Indian head was repositioned creating the two varieties. In fact, it was the letters of the words Of America that were squished closer together. Just a little numismatic trivia for you! | |

| 1894 Indian Head Cent PCI Proof-65 Red | |

| 1925-S Lincoln Cent PCI MS-65 RB (Brown) | |
| Description: Well struck for the date, with good hair and wheat stalk detail. Not enough red for me to call it red brown, so I am selling it as a brown even though the slab is labeled RB. If it was RB, my asking price would be double what it is now. | |
