Light gold color. There are several die varieties for this year, but this coin has a
clear, normal date with no double punching. A scarce date in the shield
nickel series, the 1879 costs over $200 even in Good-4 condition. The
scuff visible in the middle of the reverse is on the slab, not on the
coin. #a
