| 1845 Seated Liberty Quarter SEGS MS-61 | |
| Description: Very decent for the grade. The obverse is silver - gray overall, while the reverse has some light gold and some pastel blue. The strike is quite good with full hair detail on Miss Liberty, and full feather and talon detail on the reverse. The surfaces are free of any major marks. There is one toning spot above the second s in states on the reverse. Very affordable for a quarter over 150 years old with a mintage of under 1 million pieces. | |

| 1861 Seated Liberty Quarter SEGS Proof-64 | |
| Description: A much better date Proof quarter despite the large original mintage of 1000 pieces. At the beginning of 1862, over 600 of those coins remained available for sale, and were melted rather than being kept in the Mint's inventory providing a net mintage of under 400 pieces. This coin was actually struck on April 15, 1861. In terms of appearance, the scan came out rather awful. In reality, it is medium toned, with the obverse being 2/3 blue and 1/3 gold, and the reverse being 3/4 blue and 1/4 rose. I wish I could figure out a better imaging system! | |

| 1863 Seated Liberty Quarter NGC Proof-65 | |
| Description: Here is a very low mintage coin, with an original production of a mere 460 pieces. Grossly undervalued in comparison to many other coins. The scan came out awful. The overall toning level is medium, with the obverse being grayish in the central areas and gold near the rim. The reverse is similar with the addition of a greenish tint to the gold near the rim. It is not immediately obvious, but the design elements are lightly frosted under the toning, giving some cameo contrast. | |

| 1873 Seated Liberty Quarter NGC Proof-65 | |
| Description: No arrows variety. A light gold obverse that turns somewhat reddish near the top is combined with a reverse that is mostly reddish in the central areas and blue around the perimeter. There is some haze visible on the reverse when the coin is held at an angle. Original mintage is a tiny 600 pieces. This date was made popular by Harry X. Boosel who studied the coinage of this year in great detail, even to the point where he became known as "Mr. 1873". | |

| Description: I am not a big fan of SEGS, but this is an attractive seated quarter, and solid for the MS-64 grade. It is an attractive light reddish gold color, very lustrous, and mark free. | |

| 1878-CC Seated Liberty Quarter NGC MS-65 | |
| Description: Another color coin for the collectors who, like me, are fans of toning. This quarter is a deep greenish blue on both sides. The obverse is very lustrous while the reverse is proof like. One bag mark on the reverse under the eagle's chin keeps this quarter from a 66 or 67 grade. This is the last year of the CC mintmark in the quarter denomination. | |

| 1891 Seated Liberty Quarter AG-3 | |
| Description: No damage at all, just plenty of wear. This is the last year of production for the Seated Liberty quarter. It makes this a fascinating coin, as one has to wonder how long it remained in circulation to get so worn down. Were people still spending this quarter into the 1920's, 1930's, or even the 1940's or later? | |
